Biography
Lisa Skinner was born in the bustling town of Portsmouth into a proud naval family. After the death of her father, she and her mother, moved back up to Teesside where Lisa grew up. Her mother developed heart disease when Lisa was just seven years old. This was when she began to write, creating worlds where she was never afraid or not in control of the situations around her, helping her through this difficult time.
Marrying in her early 20's, Lisa never stopped writing, branching out into TV shows, films and musicals as well as short stories. Leaving school with only a few 'O' Levels, Lisa was encouraged by her new husband to do a degree with the Open University. Electing to major in Earth Sciences she combined study with work and also motherhood. Sadly, just a few months before her son was born, her mother died. Now with a young family, Lisa switched disciplines and began studying a second degree in Business Computing and Information Systems Analysis before becoming a Developer and qualified college lecturer. At this point, fiction largely gave way to assignments and course development. For the past 15 years she has worked as a Senior Analyst at Teesside University. Throughout her life, immersing herself in a good story - be it writing one or reading one - has always been a passion and at hard times proved invaluable. Now ready to share her storytelling with the world, Lisa finished her MA in Creative Writing in 2012 and is completing her first full novel The Last Strike. Lisa hopes that her work will help someone survive their life the way other authors and creating stories are helping her to survive hers. |
