Example Work
Welcome to my example work page. The work represented here includes extracts from my completed novel 'The Last Strike' and some stories that are in development. There is also a section on Poetry. Although this is not my forte I have taken an intrest in Haiku and Sijo. I've written a few short stories over the years and have included two here for you to read. Please click on one of the underlined titles below.
I hope you enjoy them.

Short Story - What to Write?
|
This is a short story set in Dickensian style London with a rejected playwrite struggling to maintain his confidence and being bolstered by his best friend.
I want to thank my husband for hours worth of work on the fantastic model he made for the picture to support this piece, right down to the book and whisky glass on the table beside the chair! |
Short Story - Lucy
|
This was an exercise from my MA course. We were tasked with writing a structured short story in no more than 200 words. It's a bit rough around the edges but one day I might come back and work on it, perhaps expanding it to a larger story.

It's fair to say I've never been a strong poet. I gained a new respect for poets during my MA when I discovered just how much clarity of thought and constant condensing and refinement is required for even the shortest poem. A few poems are listed below for you to read along with a Haiku, Tanka and Sijo. I took to these latter forms much more readily, I think because their strict rules struck a chord with the analyst in me.
